Chechnya to get $238m for reconstruction

The Russian government is to allocate some 7.5bn rubles ($238m) for the reconstruction of Chechnya this year, State Construction Committee head Nikolay Koshman declared today.

Koshman noted that at a meeting in Grozny on March 15-16 contractors for conducting reconstruction activities would be selected. He said that in the town of Grozny the water supply, heating and electricity networks were to be restored. Simultaneously municipal and private houses will be rebuilt. Special attention will be paid to the reconstruction of hospitals, schools and other social and cultural facilities, he added.
