MTS acquired UMC

Russia's largest mobile operator Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) has purchased Ukrainian network UMC (Ukrainian Mobile Communications), the investor relations department of MTS reported. On March 4, Ukrainian state authorities registered the transfer of a stake in the Ukrainian telecom to MTS. It is worth mentioning that on February 28, 2002, the general shareholders' meeting of UMS approved the passing of 57.7 percent of shares in UMC to MTS.
