EURASEC Economic Forum opens in Moscow

The first Economic Forum of the Eurasian Economic Community (EURASEC) opened in Moscow on Wednesday. It is being held under the slogan, "Integration, Business, Progress." EURASEC Secretary General Grigory Rapota is taking part in the event, as are about a thousand entrepreneurs from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan. There are also representatives from the EURASEC observer-nations, Ukraine and Moldova.

The President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov and his EURASEC counterparts are also attending the forum, as are regional heads and representatives of scientific, banking and financial circles.

Rapota announced at the opening of the forum that the main aims of the large-scale event were to expand processes of economic integration between EURASEC member-nations, to implement agreed market reforms, increase co-operation between business circles and, consequently, create conditions to attract investment into the real sector of the economy.

Representatives of the real sector of the economy will be able to present their own investment projects at the forum and show their potential opportunities, as well as see the economic, legal and other conditions of integration processes.

Seven round tables will be held as part of the forum on the key problems of co-operation in the real sector of the economy, including the issue of collective property.

There are also proposals to discuss how to advance goods onto the markers of EURASEC member-nations, to form and operate inter-state financial-industrial groups and joint enterprises.

Moreover, there will also be much debate about the problems of unifying national legislative bases in the sphere of pleasing and the development of leasing activity.

Other points of interest for those attending the forum include discussions about the possible consequences of the World Trade Organisation membership and how to deal with them in the interests of producers and consumers both in the state in question and its partner countries.

The forum has been organised by the EURASEC Integration Committee in conjunction with the EURASEC Business Council and the Russian Trade and Industry Chamber, while it is also under the patronage of the Community's premiers.
