The construction of a gas pipeline from Iran across Pakistan to India could help India and Pakistan to solve the Kashmir problem. As a Rosbalt correspondent reports, this was announced by Pakistani President Pervez Musharaff at a press conference in Moscow on Wednesday, February 5. Russian company Gazprom already has such a project at the development stage.
Mr Musharaff emphasised that Pakistan has always been in favour of such a project. He said that 'it would be in the interests of all three countries.' Mr Musharaff added that he had discussed the possibility of such a pipeline at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. 'In view of Russia's close relations with India and improving relations with Pakistan, Russian gas could come to play a key role in solving the Kashmir problem,' Mr Musharaff said.
