Detachment of Russian battleships accomplishes business call at Pusan

A detachment of battleships of the Pacific Fleet has returned to Vladivostok after a business call at the port of Pusan, South Korea, reported the fleet's press centre. The call, which involved the capital anti-submarine ship Marshal Shaposhnikov and a guided-missile speed-boat, lasted three days.

During the visit, Russian sailors saw hundreds of inhabitants and guests of Pusan and gave four highly successful concerts. They also had excursions to historical places and museums of Pusan and organized unofficial sports events with South Korean military sailors.

It was the third time the Pacific Fleet visited South Korea. The previous visits were made in 1993 and 1997, when Russian ships called at Pusan and Inchon respectively.
