Communications and Media Ministries decide on licenses for digital broadcast

The question on simplifying the procedure of issuing licenses to broadcastin digital format will be considered at a meeting of a joint commission ofthe Russian Communications and Media Ministries and Russian Control SystemsAgency, which is scheduled for the first quarter of 2003, the press serviceof the Russian Communications Ministry reported. In 2003 the CommunicationsMinistry in cooperation with the Media Ministry will elaborate on a generalplan of development of the digital TV broadcast and a project of afrequency distribution plan of terrestrial digital broadcast and willsubmit them to the state commissions on radio frequencies andtelecommunications..
