Krasnoyarsk Governor to be elected in run-off on September 22

A second round of the Krasnoyarsk governor elections was scheduled forSeptember 22. According to the regional election commission, Alexander Uss,the speaker of the Krasnoyarsk regional legislature, who mustered 28.51percent of votes and Alexander Khloponin, Governor of the Taimyr AutonomousArea, with 23.06 percent of votes, will compete with each other in therun-off. State Duma Deputy from the Communist Party Sergey Glazyev gained22.87 percent, Petr Pimashkov received 14.82 percent and less than 5percent of people voted against all candidates. To win the elections, a candidate must gain more than 50 percent of thevotes of electors, who came to polling stations. Due to the fact that noneof the candidates has managed to muster the necessary number of votes, thetwo leaders of the election race will rival the post of the KrasnoyarskGovernor in the run-off. Alexander Uss or Alexander Khloponin will have toreceive the simple majority of votes to become a governor. There were a total of 14 candidates to this post.
