Aeroflot nearly doubles its net profit in first half of 2002

The net profit of Aeroflot-Russian Airlines was $47m in the first half of2002 according to Russian accounting standards, nearly twice as much as thefigure reported in the first half of last year, while Aeroflot's revenuesincreased only 6.3 percent in the specified period as compared to 2001,President of the company Valery Okulov said at a press conference today.Despite the fact that now "is not the best time for airline transportation,Aeroflot managed to meet the goals of the planned budget", the President ofthe company pointed out. He was quoted as saying Aeroflot is planning toearn a net profit of $80m this year. .
