Main life-support systems restored in the natural calamity area by the Black Sea

The main life-support systems have been restored in the area near Novorossiysk (a Black Sea port) which was hit by the natural calamity, with the exception of electric and water supplies in some settlements, the Emergencies Ministry reported on Monday.

Regular bread supplies to the settlements hit by the calamity have been organized.

A complex of anti-epidemic measures are being carried out in areas of the Krasnodar Territory which were flooded last week, and the population is being vaccinated.

According to information as of Monday morning, the established number of victims of the natural calamity is still 58.

During the past 24 hours, rescue workers inspected 4,000 square metres of the coastline, and 28 divers, including those from the Emergencies and the Defence Ministries have inspected 3,500 square metres of the sea bottom. Divers have recovered the bodies of three people and have lifted 5 cars.

In Novorossiysk, Emergencies Ministry staffers have defused 23 WWII mines and bombs which were washed to the city by the flood water. Rescue, repair and restoration work continues.

According to the Emergencies Ministry, warm weather without precipitation is expected in the area of Novorossiysk on Monday.
