Ford Signs Contracts with Russian Factories for Production of Ford Focus Components

The Ford Motor Company has signed two new contracts with Russian enterprises for the delivery of components for the production of Ford Focus cars at the factory if Vsevolozhsk (Leningrad region). As the Russian press office of the Ford Motor Company announced on Wednesday, the contracts with the Interkos 4 and Kirovsky Factory of Saint Petersburg concern the equipping and delivery of seven components for the Ford Focus bodywork.

The Ford Motor Company has previously signed contracts with the Borsky Glass Factory of the Nizhny Novgorod Region for the supply of car windows and has also reached agreements with Elast-Technology and Interkos 4 of Saint Petersburg on the supply of Ford Focus car mats, sprayers and bodywork components.

The Ford Motor Factory in Vsevolozhsk officially opened in July 2002. Up to now about 30 cars have been produced at the factory which are now being tested. The factory is planning to issue a series of cars in October 2002. By the end of the year the factory is hoping to produce about 3000 cars. The potential output of the factory is 25000 cars a year. Investment of the Ford Motor Company in Russia has amounted to USD150 million. The Ford Focus is being produced in 3 different models at the factory: sedan, hatchback and universal.
