Chechen Terrorists Move to Georgia

Russia wages war with international terrorists
Chechen guerrillas moved their headquarters over to the Pankisi Gorge. The press service of the Russian president reported that the Chechen leaders command their terrorists from there. The so-called anti-criminal operation does not stop terrorists from planning and conducting their subversive activities against Russia.

As spokespeople for the presidential press service reported that Chechen leaders prefer to command their bandits from a safe place. The Pankisi Gorge is apparently considered to be one such place. The terrorist group that invaded to the republic of Ingushetia from Georgia was commanded from the Pankisi Gorge by international terrorist Abdul Malik Mejidov. He was the deputy of another well-known Chechen terrorist, Ruslan Gelayev. Mejidov was in charge of financial issues; he also controlled the deployment of Chechen terrorists from Georgia to Russia.

Abdul Malik was born in 1961 in the republic of Dagestan. He was a close accomplice of Shamil Basayev and Khattab. In 1998, Abdul Malik came into conflict with Chechen President Aslan Maskhadov. Maskhadov dismissed him from his position. In 1999, Abdul Malik was one of the leaders of the incursion in Dagestan.

Interfax informed with reference to a source in the law-enforcement bodies of Ingushetia that a group of terrorists penetrated into the republic by crossing the Russian-Georgian border. The group reportedly made up 200 people, which was allegedly to help Ruslan Gelayev’s gunmen, who had been blocked near the village of Galashki. However, this news has not been officially confirmed. Lieutenant-General Valery Putov claimed that there was no transgression of the Russian-Georgian border registered. He added that it was out of the question, taking into consideration such a large terrorist group. Putov added that it was another piece of misinformation from the terrorists.
