In addition, the Palestinian representative says that the decision of the US congress is evidence of the increasing aggression of the USA toward Palestinians and other Arab and Muslim states as well. It was especially stressed that the American Congress demonstrated its disrespect for international law. However, these are mostly emotions, which are out of place for large-scale politics. If we view the situation reasonably, we can see rather interesting details connected with the law on Jerusalem.

America's Zionist lobby is exerts great influence upon America's economy and politics. What is more, every single decision passed concerning the Middle East necessarily needs its approval. It has been a cherished dream of the Jewry of the whole world to make the eternal city of Jerusalem the capital of Israel. The issue was submitted to the American Congress for consideration several times already, but it always failed. Now, the situation has radically changed: the Bush administration urgently wants Congress to approve of Bush's war against Iraq, because there is little hope that the USA can obtain a carte blanche from the UN Security Council to topple the Iraqi government. This became a nice opportunity for democrats to bargain: it turned out that their protests against the war in Iraq were just politics. This time, they got what they wanted: yesterday, the US Congress approved the use of force against Iraq. Here was thedeal: Jerusalem in exchange for Iraq. As for the discontent of the Arab world, there is nothing they can do, as the Zionists have their capital written in stone.
