The Nizhny Novgorod region produced a positive impression on members of the commission to assess preparations for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Paying a work visit to the Nizhny Novgorod region on May 27-28, General Director of the "Center of Planning and Monitoring of the World Cup 2018," Sergei Ambarnov, pointed out positive dynamics for the construction of sports facilities in the region. The Nizhny Novgorod region produced a positive impression on members of the commission to assess preparations for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

"We have visited training grounds and hotels under construction, inspected the transport component and the stadium. We have not seen any problems. There is no time lag. In general, there are no risks related to hosting the World Cup in the region. My impression is positive, the Nizhny Novgorod region looks very decent, - said Sergei Ambarnov. - We are very lucky to have Valery Shantsev as the Governor, because he loves and values sports and pays great attention to the development of sports infrastructure. I also would like to note that without the participation of Deputy Governor Dmitry Svatkovsky it would have been difficult to achieve such results in preparing for the tournament."

The regional training program for the prestigious sports event was approved first among the regions organizing the 2018 World Cup. The regional program is one of the largest in the country: about 50 objects are to be built for nearly 30 events. The stadium in Nizhny Novgorod is likely to be put in operation ahead of the scheduled period, as Russia's Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko said.

"Going ahead of the construction schedule will make it possible to hold a series of test events at the stadium, to see how infrastructure and personnel work,"  Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Dmitry Svatkovsky said.
