Two people missing after the crash of Mi-8 helicopter of Russian interior ministry

According to the latest information, there were 25 people, including three crew members on board the Mi-8 helicopter of the Russian Interior troops, which made a forced landing in Chechnya. The interior department for Chechnya reported on Friday that captain Oleg Korovin, senior flight technician, was killed in the crash, four people received wounds of different degrees of gravity, and two are missing. The main version of the crash cause is still some technical failure of the helicopter.

The helicopter was flying on the Mozdok-Koshkeldy route in the Gudermes district and was carrying police from the Interior Department of the Amur Region for a planned replacement.

Search work currently continues in the area of the crash, the place is cordoned off by federal forces. An investigatory-operational group continues to work at the site of the accident, and it is being decided now whether or not to utilize the crashed machine, noted the Interior Ministry.

The prosecutor's office of Chechnya has opened a criminal case on evidence of the crash.
