Latest anti-terrorist equipment on show at Russian stall at Qatar exhibition

The state unitary enterprise, Rosoboronexport, has the latest anti-terrorist equipment and means to fight organised crime on show at its stall at the MILIPOL QATAR-2002 fourth international exhibition, which opened in Doha today. Many of these devices are unique and until recently were not available for public viewing.

A Rosoboronexport spokesman told RIA Novosti yesterday that individual defence equipment, as used by Russia's special forces, would be of undoubted interest to visitors, as would other forms of information protection.

RIA Novosti learnt that St. Petersburg's Akvamarin firm had designed special equipment for the coastal guard and frontier services. The Amga system detects submarines with unified radio-acoustic communication channels, while the Anapa-ME hydro-acoustic station detects submerged sabotage forces and can discover and pinpoint up to four targets at the same time.

Services involved in dealing with the aftermaths of emergency situations can examine specially equipped rescue vehicles, designed to transport rescuers to the scene of a natural or man-made disaster or a terrorist attack. The vehicles come with equipment to search for people and give them first aid, deal with the consequences of an accident and local flash-points, and conduct radiation and chemical analyses of areas by collecting and examining potentially toxic samples.

Specialists' attention will be drawn to the TMO-1M5 and TMO-1M6 radio-controlled stations from Moscow's Transkom firm. They are designed to discover and control radio-electronic signals, to detect radio-wave transmitters on an electronic map of the area, as well as to coordinate radio-wave sources and their position.

The Moscow enterprise's portable NIIDAR Sfera technical station makes it possible to locate undercover transceivers. It automatically discovers radio-signals and bugging equipment emitting radio-waves. The station can also be used to jam radio-signals.
