The surplus of the consolidated budget amounted to RUR250.5bn (about $7.89bn) over the first eight months of 2002 against RUR230.6bn (about $7.27bn) in the corresponding period of 2001, the Russian State Statistics Committee reported. Revenues of the consolidated budget amounted to 2.218 trillion rubles (about $69.88bn) in the reported period against 1.676 trillion rubles (about $52.80bn) in January-August 2001, including 1.763 trillion rubles (about $55.54bn) in tax revenues. Expenditures of the consolidated budget were 1.967 trillion rubles (about $61.97bn) in the first eight months of 2002.
As for the federal budget, its surplus amounted to RUR223.5bn (about $7.04bn) in the reported period as compared to RUR174.6bn (about $5.50bn) in the corresponding period of 2001, the State Statistics Committee reported. Revenues of the federal budget were 1.388 trillion rubles (about $43.73bn), including 1.063 trillion rubles (about $33.49bn) in tax revenues. Expenditures of the federal budget reached 1.165 trillion rubles (about $36.70bn).
