Ford Plans to Increase Russian Sales by 70% in 2003

According to Henrik Nensen, the president of the Ford Motor Company's Russian operation, Ford plans to increase its sales volume on the Russian market by 70% in 2003, to a total of 13,340 cars. At a press conference in St. Petersburg on Wednesday Nensen also announced that in 2002 the number of cars sold through official Ford dealerships in Russia will be 7,800, against a planned sales volume of 7,500.

Nensen also said that Ford plans to sell 18,000 cars in Russia in 2004, 27,000 in 2005, 34,700 in 2006, and 39,200 in 2007. The company is planning to increase its share of the Russian market for new foreign cars to 8.4% by 2005. According to Nensen, Ford's share of the market is 7.1% this year, and was 5.9% in 2001.
