A Russian man from the Kurgan region was released from 13 years of slavery in Ingushetia, the regional operative headquarters for anti-terrorist operations in North Caucasus told Russian news agency RIA Novosti. According to the headquarters, Sergey Sokolov was released by police during a search operation held in the Ingushetia village of Galashki.
The news agency reports that Sergey Sokolov was born in 1958 in the village of Chumlek in the Kurgan region of Russia. The man says that when he came to Ingushetia, he was delivered to the village of Galashki and has kept there by force since 1989. Villagers used the slave for domestic work. The police are trying to identify the man and investigate the details of his forced detention in Ingushetia.
