Ball Corp. to build 120 million plant in Russian south

By Margarita Snegireva. Ball Corp., a company that makes plastic and metal packages, plans to build a $120 million beverage can plant in southern Russia .

Vedomosti quoted an executive of the Rostov region's investment agency as saying the factory will produce no less than 500 million cans a year, accounting for about 11 percent of the Russian drinks can market.

Investment in the project would amount to $105-120 million, the official was quoted as saying.

Ball Corporation (earlier Ball Brothers Glass Manufacturing Co.) is an American company famous for producing glass canning jars. Founded in 1880, it is currently headquartered in Broomfield, Colorado. The company has expanded into avionics, space systems, metal beverage and food containers, aerosol containers and plastic containers.
