A grenade exploded outside a pair of nightclubs Sunday in the Pacific coast resort of Acapulco, wounding 10 people, Mexican media reported.
Officials in the southern state of Guerrero were not immediately available to confirm the explosion, which reportedly occurred in the early morning just a block from Acapulco's coastal main drag.
The government news agency Notimex said one woman was seriously wounded by grenade fragments, and nine more hospitalized. The blast also damaged cars.
The explosion came during the busy holiday season, when the city is packed with Mexican and foreign tourists alike. It was not immediately clear whether any of the wounded were tourists, reports AP.
Drug gangs have fought bloody turf battles in Acapulco in recent years, and the city has seen a series of killings, gun battles and beheadings.
