Spanish police have arrested four people suspected of distributing child pornography material on the Internet, the Interior Ministry said Tuesday.
The investigation began after a person in Madrid complained that he had downloaded what he thought was a popular cartoon video from the peer-to-peer file-sharing network eDonkey but discovered it was a video featuring several children and an adult in sex scenes, police said in a statement.
After probing the network and detecting which users were distributing the file, police obtained a judge's permission to ascertain the traffickers' identities.
In the arrests, carried out in four Spanish cities, police seized computer hard discs, DVDs and CDs.
The four arrested were only identified by their initials in the police statement. They were aged between 26 and 40, reports AP.
It was not specified when the arrests took place.
