54 new forest fires registered in Russia over past 24 hours

As many as 414 forest fires are raging in Russia, 54 of them have appeared in the past twenty-four hours. RIA Novosti was told about it on Monday in the information department of the Russian Emergencies Ministry.

The greatest number of fires have been registered in the Irkutsk Region (174 fires - 16 of them are large-scale fires) and in the Chita Region (115 fires - 55 are large-scale fires). In the Republic of Buryatia, there are 38 fires (13 - large-scale fires), in the Khabarovsk Territory - 11 (5 - large-scale fires), in the Ust-Orda Autonomous Area - 14, and in the Krasnoyarsk Territory 12. All these regions are in Siberia and in the Russia's Far East.

As many as 5,856 men, 955 pieces of ground equipment and 47 aircraft participate in the elimination of the forest fires.
