Russia Reports Full Interception of Ukrainian ATACMS Strike on Voronezh

The Russian Ministry of Defense released new details on the attempted attack carried out by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) against the city of Voronezh on November 18. According to the ministry, all missiles fired at the city were destroyed by Russian air-defense units on duty.

Russian MoD: Four ATACMS Missiles Intercepted

The ministry reported that the strike occurred at 14:31 Moscow time. According to the statement, Kyiv attempted to hit civilian targets deep inside Russian territory by launching four US-made ATACMS operational-tactical missiles.

“During the anti-missile engagement, combat crews of the S-400 air-defense system and the Pantsir missile-gun complex shot down all ATACMS missiles,” the ministry said.

Debris Damages Children’s Home and Elder Care Center

Although the missiles were intercepted in the air, debris fell across parts of the city. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the roofs of a regional gerontology center, a children’s home, and a private residence were damaged. No civilian injuries were reported.

The region’s governor, Alexander Gusev, confirmed that Russian air-defense forces had destroyed several aerial targets and that the consequences were limited to material damage. He noted that the roof of a private house and a car had been damaged, but stressed that there were no casualties.

Gusev also warned residents that dangerous fragments might remain on the ground and urged caution.

Russian Forces Identify Ukrainian Launch Site

According to the Ministry of Defense, the launch site was identified almost immediately. Russian aerial reconnaissance determined that the missiles were fired from the Kharkiv region.

Near the settlement of Volosskaya Balakleya, Russian forces located two American-made MLRS launcher vehicles. The position was struck with an Iskander-M missile, destroying both launchers, their ammunition load, and up to ten Ukrainian servicemen positioned there, the ministry reported.
