As a result of a special operation in the Urus-Martan region of Chechnya 32 terrrorists belonging to Islamic fundamentalists were killed. According to the information provided to RIA Novosti on Saturday in the headquarters of the Unified grouping of forces, bodies of dead bandits were discovered in the area of conduct of the special operation in a mountainous and wooded area along the route of retreat of the bandits. According to headquarters representatives, this was not a final figure as presently units of Federal forces continued to comb the territory.
According to the military information, the terrorists were members of the grouping of the so-called "field commander" Doka Umarov.
The command of the Unified Grouping of forces undertook tough measures to suppress activity of the bandits who were surrounded and eliminated on Friday in the vicinity of Shalazhi and Gekhi-Chu settlements. At the same time the command pointed out the important role played by Chechen militia in liquidation of bandit formations.
