Doctor Shares Nutrient-Rich Dinner Ideas to Prevent Cardiovascular Disease

Lower Sodium, Boost Omega-3: Cardiologist’s Guide to a Heart-Smart Meal

Cardiologist Kunal Lal stated that maintaining heart health is achievable through proper nutrition. In an interview with Infobae, he shared his recommendation for the ideal dinner to prevent cardiovascular diseases.

Key Principles for a Heart-Healthy Meal

"Our ultimate goal is to follow a diet low in sodium, trans fats, and saturated fats, which can help reduce negative outcomes such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and cardiovascular disease,” the expert said.

Dr. Lal suggested baked salmon as a primary component of a heart-friendly dinner. Complementing it with vegetables and chickpeas provides a balance of nutrients: omega-3 fatty acids in the fish, plant-based protein and fiber in the legumes, and micronutrients with anti-inflammatory properties in the vegetables. To maintain low sodium, he recommends using smoked paprika, fresh herbs, or garlic powder instead of salt.
