The reduction of the purchase price for gas, supplied to Moldova, from $80 to $50 per cubic meter via decreasing transit tariffs through Moldova from $2.5 to $1.5 for pumping 1,000 cubic meters of gas for 100 kilometers will be possible after an additional protocol to the Russian-Moldovan intergovernmental agreement on gas supplies to Moldova and its transit to third countries has been signed. This information had been released by Deputy CEO of Gazprom Alexander Ryazanov before he left Chisinau (Moldova) for Moscow. He pointed out that it was planned to sign this document at the beginning of April 2003.
According to Ryazanov, agreements on reducing the gas purchase prices and transit tariffs, as well as Moldova's readiness to consider passing shares of some of its energy companies to Gazprom for repaying its debts for gas, are reflected in a protocol, signed by him and Senior Deputy Prime Minister of Moldova Vasile Iovv in Chisinau.
