Japanese National Hospitalised on Suspicion of SARS Discharged from Abakan Hospital

A citizen of Japan John Kambayashi who was hospitalised on suspicion of SARS, has been discharged from a hospital in Abakan (the southern part of Siberia).

On Tuesday he arrived in Vladivostok (the Russian Far East) from where he will be sent by the first flight to Japan. The RIA Novosti correspondent was told this at the office of the Vladivostok Avia airline.

John Kambayash was hospitalised on April 27 in Abakan when he felt unwell in the Abakan airport where he arrived on board a Moscow-Abakan-Vladivostok aircraft.

According to the Japanese, he stayed in Russia for more than two weeks. He had arrived in Moscow from Vladivostok by train, which also carried some citizens of China.

The Japanese was examined in an Abakan hospital, and the doctor diagnosed pneumonia. The analyses were sent to Moscow to prove or deny the suspicion on SARS.

The preliminary diagnosis was not confirmed. The Japanese recovered and has been discharged from the infectious hospital in Abakan.
