The US-based company General Motors (GM) expects to establish an assembly plant for the production of its vehicles in Belarus. 

A corresponding agreement was signed at the meeting of Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus, Pyotr Prokopovich, and President and Managing Director of GM Russia and CIS, James Bovenzi.

According to the Belarusian state television, the assembly of vehicles is to be arranged at the Belarusian-British joint venture Unison. The company will produce Opel Corsa cars both for the domestic market and for the markets of Russia and Kazakhstan. First vehicles will be ready in the spring of 2014. The expected production volume is to make up nearly 7,000 cars a year.
