Russian president Vladimir Putin congratulated Nursultan Nazarbayev on the 10th anniversary of independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The press service of the head of state quotes the message of greetings as saying: "Marking this significant date, the fraternal Kazakh people may by right be proud of their successes achieved along a difficult road of building a democratic state. "I am sure that the allied collaboration between Russia and Kazakhstan, and the consistent development of many-faceted Russian-Kazakh strategic partnership will continue serving the vital interests of our states, and ensuring regional and international security. "We highly appreciate the contribution of Kazakhstan to intensive cooperation in strengthening the Commonwealth of Independent States, and the Eurasian economic community in the establishment of which you personally take part."
