Prince Charles In Latvia

Crown Prince Charles of Wales has arrived in Riga, capital of Latvia. He is making a week-long tour of the Baltic countries. In the Riga Palace, Prince Charles was received by Latvian President Vaira Vike-Freiberga. The visit was somewhat marred by an incident when the Prince Charles and Vaira Vike-Freiberga were laying flowers to the Freedom monument in the center of Riga. A city female resident threw a red carnation in the face of the prince. She later explained her act as a protest against Latvia's desire to join the North-Atlantic Treaty Organisation and against the war in Afghanistan.
