Greek man perishes trying to burn alive his old aunt

A man was burned alive on Wednesday while trying to set his 90-year-old aunt on fire at her home in a northern Greek village, police said.

The dead man, identified as Nikos Grigoriadis, 52, was very drunk at the time of the early morning attack, police said.

They said Magda Papadopoulou survived with minor burns after her nephew Grigoriadis poured petrol over her extensively splashing himself in the process and lit a cigarette lighter, igniting the fuel fumes.

Papadopoulou told police her nephew had no previous argument with her, reports the AP.
