Iranian military to hold anti-west protest

The Basiji - the militia and reservists of Iran's Revolutionary Guards, the Pasdaran - have announced that they have organised a protest throughout the country to take place on 26 November, against what they define as "Western plots against the Islamic republic".

"On 26 November, 12 million basiji [volunteers] willl gather in squares all over the country in support of the decision by the government to restart the process of uranium enrichment and in condemnation of Western plots against the Islamic republic," Mahmoud Chamani, one of the spokespersons for the Basiji was quoted as saying by the Fars news agency. He also defined this mobilisation as "a slap in the face by the Muslim people of Iran, to the international aggression against the Islamic Republic," according to AKI.
