Jane Austen buffs and Indian film fans gathered in London on Monday for the premiere of British director Gurinder Chadha's Bride And Prejudice.
The film transposes Austen's comedy of manners to modern-day &to=http:// english.pravda.ru/world/20/91/366/14339_India.html ' target=_blank>India.
Also on hand were the film's stars, Aishwarya Rai (right), who was dressed in a shimmering Armani dress, and New Zealand actor Martin Henderson.
The movie, based on the Austen novel of the same name and featuring Bollywood-style song and dance, transforms Austen's Bennet family into the Bakshis of Amritsar, reports The Straits Times.
According to the Times of India, the Brit stiff upper lip is curled.
