Secretary General of the Collective Security Council of the member-countries of the Collective Security Treaty Nikolai Bordyuzha met in New York on Monday with Chairman of the UN Counter Terrorism Committee Inocencio F. Arias.
The sides discussed prospects of cooperation between these organisations in the fight against the present-day threats and challenges.
The Counter Terrorism Committee of the United Nations was founded by Resolution No. 1373 of the Security Council after the tragic events in the United States on September 11, 2001.
On Tuesday, July 29, Nikolai Bordyuzha will take part in the meeting of the heads of regional organisations on security problems with UN Secretary General Kofi Annan. This session will be attended by representatives of the European Union, NATO, the African Union, ASEAN and the Organisation of American States. The post-Soviet space will be represented at the session by the heads of the executive bodies of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and the Collective Security Council.
As Nikolai Bordyuzha reported, at this session he intends to state that the Collective Security Treaty is a really functioning regional structure. Its member countries are Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.
