Passenger navigation on the Amur between Khabarovsk, the centre of one of the Far Eastern regions of Russia, and the Chinese city of Fuyuan will be renewed on Wednesday.
Earlier, the navigation between these two cities always opened on May 15-16, and four Russian and four Chinese ships served this line. This time, the opening of the international navigation on the Amur was delayed due to the threat of the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS).
On Monday a special commission from Khabarovsk visited Fuyuan. It noted the readiness of the Chinese side to ensure medical security and came to the conclusion that the passenger navigation could be renewed under strict control.
According to the information of the Chinese physicians and representatives of the authorities, no SARS cases were registered in the province of Heilongjiang, which borders on the Russian territory.
In the port of Khabarovsk the state of the health of the passengers coming from China will be strictly controlled.
