G-8 Finance Ministers And Chief Bankers On Situation In Russian Economy

Participants in the meeting of G-8 finance ministers and chief bankers held in Washington gave a positive assessment to the report of vice-premier and finance minister of Russia Alexei Kudrin on the Russian economic situation. Kudrin made such a statement to journalists upon the completion of the meeting, a RIA Novosti correspondent reports. According to the vice-premier, the participants in the meeting noted a rather stable situation in the Russian economy. Kudrin said that he was asked about the payment on debts in 2003, the bank reform situation and combating money laundering and inflation. Kudrin informed his colleagues about actions taken by the Russian government on all the above-mentioned issues. The vice-premier noted that the participants in the meeting were satisfied with his answers. According to him, they believe that the Russian economy has potential to preserve the rates of growth.
