The Russian Federation's Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov and US Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld are to negotiate here today. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, both men will discuss a wide range of international security issues in the context of the US counter-terrorist operation now being conducted on Afghan territory. Ivanov and Rumsfeld will also dwell on international stability issues related to the 1972 ABM Treaty. The Pentagon chief will fly over to Uzbekistan today, subsequently negotiating with that republic's leadership and discussing bilateral military relations, as well as US-Uzbek interaction during the afore-said counter-terrorist operation.
