Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze has stated Georgia is going to beef up security on the Chechen sector of the Russia-Georgia border.
In his traditional interview with the National Radio, Shevardnadze said Tbilisi attached great importance to preventing any confusion or provocations on the Chechen sector of the Georgia-Russia border.
The Georgian leader also underscored that "the Georgian border guards will also actively co-operate with their Russian colleagues", using the accumulated experience.
Shevardnadze recalled that the agreement that the Russian and Georgian border guards signed last year provides for operative information exchange.
