In an inspection of a facility in Iraq, the United Nations inspectors have discovered a mold for the manufacture of bodies of 22-millimeter rocket projectiles and cones of tactical missiles. This was said on Monday by the Iraqi News Agency with reference to a representative of the Iraqi national agency for monitoring arms programs. The mold was found during an inspection of the al-Nida enterprise in southern Baghdad. Al-Nida is part of the Iraqi military industry organization.
The representative of the monitoring agency has given inspectors the required "technical explanations", the communique says. The sides have agreed that the Iraqi side will supply additional information to this effect.
The inspections have discovered "the modified cone" of a tactical missile of a 70-kilometer range. The found cone is old and Iraq submitted the relative information to the UN special commission back in 1996, the communique goes on to say.
On Monday the UN inspectors are inspecting the total of 12 Iraqi facilities, five of which are connected with the manufacture of missiles or their separate parts.
