The administration of US President Joe Biden is directly responsible for the attack on the pre-trial detention center in Yelenovka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), Lieutenant-General Igor Konashenkov, an official representative for the Russian Defense Ministry, told reporters Tuesday, August 2.
“Political, criminal and moral responsibility for the massacre in Yelenovka and other war crimes in Ukraine is directly borne by the Biden administration together with [Ukrainian President] Zelensky,” Konashenkov said.
All missile strikes conducted by Kyiv, including on residential areas of Donetsk, Nova Kakhovka, Stakhanov, Krasny Luch and Yelenovka, were carried out with the approval from the White House.
At the end of July, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched a missile attack on the pre-trial detention center in Yelenovka. The strike was conducted with the use of American HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems. As many as 50 Ukrainian POWs were killed in the attack.
Ukraine denied involvement in the attack and blamed Russia for it.
The United States does not recognize the entry of Ukrainian territories into Russia. Such a development will seriously complicate prospects for a diplomatic settlement
