New Turkish Constitutions: Shootings and gendarmes

The Turkish authorities, in cooperation with opposition, plan to prepare amendments to the constitution of the country, Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said.

The Prime Minister of Turkey noted that the current constitution requires minor changes.

The Party of Justice and Development, as well as the opposition Republican People's Party and the Nationalist Movement Party will conduct the work on the introduction of amendments to the Turkish Constitution.

According to Yildirim, the changes will touch upon the work of gendarmes and rescue workers - they will be handed over to the jurisdiction of civil ministries.

An attempted military coup took place in Turkey in the night of July 16, when army units and armored vehicles appeared in the streets of major Turkish cities. The Turkish authorities suppressed the rebellion. About 300 people were killed, about 1,500 were injured.

The President of Turkey is ready to change the Constitution and reinstate death penalty, if the people of Turkey request so.
