Iran has rejected reports that it complained about denial of fuel supply to its passenger planes by Germany, Britain and the United Arab Emirates.

Iran's ISNA news agency quoted Mehdi Aliyari, Secretary of the Iranian Airlines Union, on Monday as saying that since last week, the planes of national carrier Iran Air and Mahan Airlines have been refused fuel at airports in the three countries because of the U.S. sanctions imposed on Iran.

He argued that "Refusing to provide fuel to Iranian passenger planes by these countries is violation of international conventions," according to RTT News.

The Kuwaiti official dismissed the report that his country had denied Iran supply of fuel. The official said that Iranian planes have had no problem obtaining the required fuel, adding that the most recent refilling by Iranian passenger planes was on Sunday, when two Iran Air planes bound for Iran, stopped in Kuwait International Airport to get necessary fuel.

US President Barack Obama on Thursday signed new unilateral sanctions into law, seeking to prevent Iran's access to refined oil products. The bill denies companies that supply Iran with refined petroleum products access to US markets. The US unilateral sanctions aim to pile up pressure on Iran over its nuclear work, Press TV reports.
