IOC delays decision on Russia

The International Olympic Committee has not decided the fate of the Russian Olympic team on July 19. According to IOC officials, the decision about Russia's participation in the Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro would be announced later this week.

On July 19, the executive committee of the IOC held an extraordinary conference call to discuss the McLaren report about the statements from the former head of the Moscow anti-doping laboratory Grigory Rodchenkov.

As reported by Sky Sport, the IOC will not make a final decision on Russia as the Sports Arbitration Court (CAS) in Lausanne considers a lawsuit from the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) against the International Athletics Federation (IAAF) after the latter barred Russian athletes from the Rio Olympics. The CAS is expected to publish its ruling on the case on July 21, Thursday.

Earlier, IOC President Thomas Bach stated that the committee would take most severe measures against the individuals, whose names appear in the McLaren report.
