Germany: plea for clemency by former Red Army Faction terrorist rejected

A plea of clemency by a former leader of the extreme left-wing Red Army Faction was rejected by German President Horst Koehler, Koehler's office said Monday.

"The federal president has decided to refrain from granting clemency to Mr. Christian Klar," a statement from the president's office said. Klar is serving a multiple life sentence for involvement in some of the RAF's most notorious killings.
