Vladimir Rulev places on good behavior bond after guilty plea

There was no convection  recorded against  a Russian diving  coach who said that he was affected by alcohol, sleeping  pills and  jetlag when he assaulted  a female  security  guard.

Vladimir Rulev, 56, told Melbourne Magistrates' Court that he was wearing only his boxer shorts when he was spotted March 24 wandering around a hotel occupied by athletes attending the world swimming championships.

Rulev, who said his future as a Russian coach is in jeopardy because of the case, was placed on a six-month good behavior bond without conviction after pleading guilty to one count of assault and indecent assault.

Police earlier told the court that Rulev grabbed the security guard's accreditation badge from around her neck and then squeezed her left breast.

Magistrate Kate Hawkins said she took into account the fact that Rulev's actions had attracted media attention and caused him considerable embarrassment and possibly his career.
