Ex-nurse faces charges of murdering three babies

Former British nurse Ann Mahoney has been accused of trying to conceal the birth of three babies following the discovery of their remains in two attics.

Mahoney, 63, will appear before a judge at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court in south Wales for a plea and directions hearing.

Mahoney, of Forsythia Close, Merthyr Tydfil, was arrested and charged earlier this year following the discovery of a baby's body in an attic in the town on March 20.

Following the discovery of two more bodies in a separate location the grandmother was charged with two further offences earlier this month.

She now faces three counts of endeavouring to conceal the birth of a child under the Offences Against The Person Act 1861.

The first offence is alleged to have been committed some time between January 1, 1959 and March 2005.

The two new charges are alleged to have occurred between January 1, 1959 and May of this year, The Daily Express reports.
