Moscow and St.Petersburg athletes lead at International Yoth Judo Festival

The eighth international junior judo festival was held the other day in St. Petersburg.

As the St. Petersburg judo federation reports, the competition involved 125 teams from various regions of Russia, near and far abroad countries. The Jubilee Palace of Sports gathered 1,050 judoists aged 11-16 to compete for 27 sets of medals in various weight categories. The largest number of medals went to judoists from Moscow (9 medals, including three gold ones) and the North Ossetian capital of Vladikavkaz (9 medals, including four gold ones).

St. Petersburg judoists won 4 silver, one bronze and three gold medals. Gold went to Denis Lyubchenko (46-kg category), Alexander Artemenko (31-kg category) and Marina Ilyushina (52-kg category).
