Russian Deputies Honour The Memory Of Armenian Victims Of The 1915 Genocide

Today's session of the State Duma /the lower house of the Russian parliament/ began on a sombre note as deputies stood in silence for victims of the Armenian genocide of 1915. The proposal came from Vladimir Sokhov of the Unity faction. "What happened 86 years ago was probably the most tragic event in the history of the Armenian people," he said. State Duma speaker Gennady Seleznyov, who chairs the session, backed the deputy's proposal.
