Ballet Stars From The Opera De Paris, A French National Theatre, Will Perform At The Kremlin Palace

Stars from the Opera de Paris (Grand Opera), a French national theatre, will perform Saturday and Sunday on the stage of the State Kremlin Palace. The history of the ballet troupe of the Opera de Paris, one of the best known theatres of the world, dates back to 1661, when the Royal Academy of Dance was founded. The Opera de Paris ballet is associated with the most brilliant names of the best ballet dancers of the world. It was on this theatre's stage that Marie Taglioni first appeared on pointes, instead of usual high-heeled shoes. The history of the Opera de Paris is closely associated with the Russian ballet, in particular, with the activities of the well-known Russian impresario Sergei Diaghilev and with the creative work of Serge Lifar. Ballet stars of the Opera de Paris will perform a gala concert at the Kremlin Palace. The programme will include duets to the music of Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, Adam, Asafiev, Mahler and Schubert. Ballet lovers will see scenes from the ballets "Nutcracker", "Giselle", "Romeo and Juliet" and some pieces of modern choreography.
