Russian president Vladimir Putin congratulated police officers on their professional holiday. According to a RIA Novosti correspondent, the president spoke at the solemn soiree in the State Kremlin Palace on the occasion of Police Day. "I would like to say special words of greeting and support for those who do not leave their post on a holiday, who is near the citizens, even in the hardest times, like the times Vladikavkaz residents (and all Russia with them) are experiencing now," said the head of state. As was already reported, on Saturday an explosion took place at a public retail market in Vladikavkaz (the capital of North Ossetia, North Caucasian republic). Five people were killed.
